To maintain the showroom quality of your
kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, flooring, hearths or accent
areas of your natural stone products, Bell Stone Co., Inc. is
providing you with some general guidelines for basic maintenance.
Most natural stones are considered very low maintenance, but not
maintenance-free. Unless the stone is sealed and maintained
properly, some staining may occur.
 | Clean up spills immediately. Acid-based spills such as lemon
juice, orange juice, etc. tend to "eat" through sealant. |
| Do not cut directly on countertops. |
| Use coasters to prevent temporary darkening of the stone and
blot up spills up as they happen. |
| Use warm water or neutral PH cleanser. Never use an acid-based
cleanser, chemicals or abrasive on your stone. |
| Avoid waxing the stone surface since wax attracts and holds
dirt. |
| Avoid soaps because they leave a dulling film. |
Bell Stone uses an impregnating sealer, formulated and designed
for natural stone and other porous surfaces. This sealer penetrates
into the "pores" of the stone, protecting it from staining and, at
the same time, allowing vapor transmission. Because it is a
penetrate and not a surface coating, the stone remains its natural
look and feel. The sealer will not "fill in" any pits, divots or
fissures in the stone surface. The stone further benefits from the
sealer by: resisting stains, oils and grease, acting as a water
repellent, maintaining beauty, strengthening the surface, inhibiting
growth of mildew and mold, and assisting in maintenance.
Although the sealer requires a 24-hour "cure" time, it will feel
dry to the touch after 45 minutes. For BEST results, the area should
be kept free from staining materials for a full 72 hours. This
procedure should protect your natural stone for approximately 24 to
36 months, depending on use and stone matrix. If you see dark spots
on your stone after the sealer is applied, do not be alarmed. It is
only moisture and it will evaporate.
